Seattle has the edge over Oakland for the season (9-7) and need just one win to allow them to look down their collective noses at the A's. "Ya, we are epically bad, but we beat you!!!"

It's the little victories in life/baseball that keep me going.

The M's need at least one loss in this series to secure the 3rd pick in the draft. There's absolutely no chance of getting #2. So, we might as well faceplant one of these. With Vargas, Beaven and Vasquez as the probables, there's a good chance they will.

The boys really pulled together the last few days to help secure this higher draft pick.
Picking third would be exciting. This year Trevor Bauer was picked third. Rendon 6th. Imagine if we had had such a high pick too.

Orioles win - Boston's wild card lead is gone. M's lock up 3rd pick unless they sweep Oakland [didn't that cost them Straussberg?]

Sweeping Oakland may not be enough. The Orioles would also have to sweep the Red Sox for the Mariners to not get the third spot. The way the Red Sox are playing, that could easily happen. :dntknw:

OK, that would be too, too close to what happened in 2008. :swoon:

Tampa has 8 players with more than 300 plate appearances.
- Six have an OPS+ over 100.
- All are over 90.
- The highest is Longoria at 135.
- The lowest is Fuld at 91.

Seattle has 9 players with more than 300 plate appearances.
- Three have an OPS+ over 100.
- The other six are all under 85.
- The highest is Carp at 129.
- The lowest is Figgins at 39.

Tampa's offense is pretty close to league average measured by OPS+ or R/G.

Anyway, I'm glad we're not playing them. I feel perfectly fine rooting for the "Not The Red Sox" for the next two games.

Ya. I think he meant the Orioles would have to get swept by Boston, not the other way 'round.

Baltimore put in a nice effort tonight, but ended up losing to Boston. The M's now have a .5 game lead on them for the #3 pick in the draft (plus the tiebreaker). But the M's are losing 5-0 at the moment, so we could clinch the #3 slot tonight!!!

I can make that happen!

Simply pick one of the games from earlier in the season (preferably one that you like), bring it up on MLBtv, watch it now and don't worry about what happens tonight.

Problem solved!

So, can I watch yesterday's super exciting game and watch it again tonight and make it seem as if it were tonight's game? Wow! Sounds much better than watching any of the Red Sox, or the Rays or the Cards, or the Braves games!

Does ANYONE realize what is at stake with tonight's game? With the loss last night the season series between the Mariners and A's stands at 9-9. Whoever wins tonight will have bragging rights!

Come on M's! Come on Vasquez! Come on you sorry-ass excuse for an offense!!!
