Yo, Lonnie ...

I'm pretty much thinking James Jones is a dead end at this point.

So, I'd like to throw him overboard ...

But, I'd like to pick up another pitcher and hitter:

Jake Shaffer (OF with the Generals)
Brandon Maurer (Pitcher at High Desert)

That puts me to 4 total:

(currently has Kasparek and Brian Moran)

I think I am going to drop all 3 prospects now that Seager has gotten the promotion. Unless of course I can keep him for awhile. I would like to take Jamal Austin (CF), James Zamarripa (CF) and Jean Acevedo (IF)
Adopt-A-Players:

EDIT: I wouldn't give up on Seager yet. He may follow the same path as Peguero. Get his 150 AB's, then back to AAA. I've had two of mine get promoted, but I line them out and wait a while. When they come back, it's just a simple adjustment.
:whistling:

Strike that. Seager ain't going back!

I don't mean to be too much of a pain in the rear but I am going to stick with Jamal Austin (CF), add Francisco Martinez (3B) and because I really like catchers I will also take John Hicks as well.

Leuke graduated and Fields got traded. Hmmm....I'll add Tyler Marlette, recently drafted catcher.
You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all. ~Earl Weaver

Done!

Folks, there are a LOT of really good prospects in the system right now who have not been adopted yet. I'm very surprised no one has stepped up to claim Danny Hultzen, Brad Miller, Carter Capps, Kyle Hunter, Jamal Austin, Mike McGee, and and and and and....

Alright so I hope I am not being too much of a pain here. After going through and looking at a bunch of players I have come up with 4 that I would enjoy watching through their minor league careers. This is my final answer and I will not change them from this point forward. Here goes....

Carter Capps, SP
Jamal Austin, CF
Jack Marder, C
Brad Miller, SS

Thank you for the patience!

After talking with a friend that has strong baseball ties I think I am going to jump back on the Francisco Martinez bandwagon. He is a kid that I think will give us that solid option at 3B. So I am dropping the college kid Brad Miller and going with Martinez. Sorry for the confusion. But then there are a lot of players still available.

I just lost another adopt-a-son, as Matt Mangini (who was unceremoniously dumped by the M's) has signed a minor league deal with Tampa Bay.

May he have as good of luck as my previous under-appreciated adopt-a-player, Mike Morse.
Adopt-a-Players:
Eric Thames - What? Are we waiting for him to become LESS patient at the plate?
2013 AAA: .298/.390/.496/.887 5 HR 20 RBI

Forrest Snow - Things look rather Stark for the bastard of the north. Winter is coming.
2013 AA: 1-4, 3.86 ERA, 23 K, 5 BB, 1.095 WHIP
2012 AAA/AA: 5-9, 6.35 ERA, 99K, 67 BB, 1.674 WHIP

Gone But Not Forgotten (former adopt-a-players):
Matt Mangini - Signed a minor league contract with the Reds in the off season, but appears to have been handed his walking papers.
Mike Morse - HEY! Look who's back!!!!!
Jamal Strong - Let go after 2005. Played in the Yankees, Cubs and Braves systems. Now a regional scout for the Cards.

Actually, Sandy, you lost two. Kenn Kasparek was released a couple of weeks ago. Proscia is an outstanding replacement for Shaffer though. Can I suggest a certain slugging 2nd bagger down in High Desert named Romero?

Darn. Hadn't heard about KK. Oh, well.

Yes, let me have Stefen Romero.

That gives me two B.M. pitchers
That also gives me a pair of Steve hitters, (my middle name is Stephen ... just fyi).
