Tacoma and Jackson both had the night off, so this should be quick...

High Desert got slobberknockered, again. Clinton lost it's... Oh, wait! Clinton won a game!!!! Yay!!! The little ones down in the VSL remain perfect as they won again.

Turnabout is fair play as Round Rock took Tacoma back behind the woodshed and applied a beating. Jackson and Tennessee had a slugfest with Tennessee coming out on top. High Desert... Well.... Um.... You see... Ah, shit. Let's say for now that they lost and that the description of the game will be epic. Clinton got into the exact opposite as they fell to Beloit. The kids down in the VSL stayed perfect as they won again.

Lots of teams breaking out big bats tonight. Tacoma put a hurting on Round Rock for a win. Jackson played a doubleheader, and in the first game they got slobber-knockered. The second game featured Taijuan Walker getting hit on the ankle by a hit ball and removed from the game for precautionary reasons. High Desert hooked up with Visalia and beat the living crap out of them. Clinton lost early in a fairly close game. The VSL cranked up it's season today and the M's affilate applied a beat-down on the Rays kiddos.

Tacoma got another great start as ER had a statement game for his first minor league win of 2012. Jackson got a "Big Three" kind of game out of a non-"Big Three" kind of pitcher for a win. High Desert broke out their hurtin' sticks for a win. Clinton had plenty of hits and baserunners, but just one stinkin' run in a loss.

Tacoma got an incredible debut outting by my boy Andy for a win. Jackson sent a member of the "Big Three" out and got a "Big Three" type of performance for a win. Kinda. High Desert...ah SHIT! For, like, the 95th time this week the Maverick bullpen gave up big runs late for a loss. Clinton's bullpen also puked up big runs late for a walk-off loss.

Tacoma and Albuquerque got into something of a pitching duel with Albuturkey coming out on top. Jackson also got into a pitching duel with their opponent and fell in extra innings. High Desert got an exceptional start from James Gillheeney, and then the bullpen went to Hell for a loss. Clinton's bullpen also went to Hell in a late loss.

Ok, so I'm back from my hiatus and the minor leagues greet me with a 1-3 - almost 0-4 - night. You have to know that I'm feeling special right about now.

Tacoma lost late. Jackson lost late. High Desert came from way back late for a win. Clinton lost late.

There's a pattern there.

"Smoak and Minors"

I've never been very high on Smoak. I've said as much before. But, I never went into any great detail on why. Part of the reason was I couldn't really put a finger on the answer myself. When Smoak was first acquired, I went and checked out his minor league and major league numbers at the time. He was 23, had already played 70 games in the majors, was rated as the #23 prospect by BA in 2009 and #13 in 2010. He had a minors OPS solidly in the .800s, a fantastic BB/K ratio. There was a lot to like. But my impression after examining the stats was ... meh.
