I've listened to little bits of the new M's radio guy; he seems to be doing most of the play calls so far, a way to ease him in ahead of the season's start. Goldsmith seems competent. I'm not sure there's much charisma in his manner, and I don't know that he has a signature like Niehaus did, but he hasn't stumbled calling the games that I've heard him do.

He seems to be a generic play by play guy. I don't dislike him. Like you said, he doesn't seem to have any charisma. Hopefully its something he can develop.

I like his laid back style because Rizz already provides enough energy for the two of them. I think it is a very nice pairing.

I think it's going to be tough to be energetic and excited about a team he really doesn't know yet. I'd rather the Mariners grow on him and his excitement is genuine rather than giving us something that is fake just to get the fans excited.

Dave Sims was the exact same way. Every year he's gotten more and more into it. Whether it be a home run, RBI, strike out, save, etc. Give him time. He's got plenty of time. He's only what, 29?? Once he gets fully comfortable with the organization and knows the players it'll be easier. I wish him & Rizzs were on TV instead of Sims & Blow.

When I'm in the other room listening and doing something, it's hard to tell he and rick apart. He puts his sentences together nicely. It's been pretty boring lately. Never replace a legend. All the M's do is hit HR's and win...sigh

I like the simple style and its going to be a blast listening to him as he grows in his job and becomes more enthusiastic about the Mariners.
