The Rocket is an interesting case study. He was not requested or subpoenaed to appear before congress, he demanded it. All he had to do is shut up. He is used to getting what he wants but with congress he has met the irresistible force, although their witnesses are not that great. Prosecutors in DC will brag at their success rate but they only go forward when they have something that is close to a slam dunk. Six months in a half way house for Roger ? Or 20 years in Sing Sing ?
They had an interview by 'The Rocket' last night on ESPN radio. He's very brash about everything and sounds like he expects to be elected to the Hall of Fame. Even the guys on ESPN couldn't get over how flippant and downright arrogant he is about what's transpired. Sounds like he might be getting brought down to earth in a very rude awakening. We'll see.
The allegations do explain his sometimes bizarre and aggressive behavior. Remember the World Series when he threw that broken bat at Piazza? Weird.
