thanks for the reply. Cities that embrace the foodtruck movement really create a great scene. It's really what this thread is all about. The cost of opening a truck, although expensive, is nothing compared to opening a big bar or diner or whatever.

It's nothing new. Push~cart wars existed years ago. They've graduated from carts to trucks basically. Anything that is good and can save me time and money is okay with me. I won't wait in lines, unless I bring a folding chair to sit in !

silvana meats
1229 Pioneer Highway,
Silvana, WA 98292
(360) 652-7188

A shoutout to Silvana meats. This place is great. It's just up on the old Pioneer Highway (#530) in Silavana, WA. It's less than 20 minutes north of Everett. Everything is fresh, all natural product. If you are tired of the big stores who make you buy more then you want or if you are tired of out dated meats that seem to stay forever in the cooler at the big stores, then Silvana meats is your place. They'll cut anything you want. If you want something cubed up or butterfly cut or whatever, they will do it for you. They are really busy this time of year so call ahead with your order and give them a day or two. This fresh natural stuff really taste better then the toxic fed stuff out there and the prices are a good value.

Taqueria El Sabor:,
15221 Aurora Avenue North,
Shoreline, Wa. 98133

(206) 417-3346

Stopped by the other day during the lunch hour. I picked up three tacos (about five bucks) and it was good. Every plate I looked at looked very nice as well. Included in this was a Green Salad (Iceberg, Chinese Leaves and Romaine, green peppers, peas, asparagus, fresh cucumber, avocado and spinach, with dressing and garlic bread. Now, I'm not a big salad guy, as you could probably tell, but this one I might even try, along with the chicken salad.

El Sabor has some of my favorite soups such as Pozole and Munudo but they are only served on weekends. Birria is served everyday, which I love, and Caldo De Res. I've never had the Caldo De Res, but the photos look interesting.

Other items include Antojitos (Taquitos Quesadilla, Sopitos & Mulitas), Burritos (with choice of meat: Asada, adobada (spicy pork) carnitas, birria, pollo, cabeza, lengua and tripa), tortas (regular, Lomo {pork loin}, Filete De Pollo {chicken fillet}, specials like enchilada verde, chipotle or mexicanas. You can get a burrito with chipotle sauce, also. The have Chile Verde, Combo Carnitas, carne asada and steak ranchero.

They have chicken (pollo) plates with choice of arroz con pollo, pollo ranchero, pollo asado.

In the seafood department, they have shrimp cocktails, campechana (shrimp, octopus, tomato, cilantro, cucumber and avocado). Also, Mojarra with choice of sides either veggies, fries and salad or rice and beans. There is more. Tostada de camaron, camarones a la diabla, arroz con camarones and camarones chipotle.

Beverages: sodas, horchata, hot chocolate, capuccino, coffee, and milkshakes.

Sides: avocado, guacamole, rice and beans ($2.49 !) tortillas, sour cream and french fries.

They also have a place in Kent on North Central Avenue.

I can't wait to try the soups ! Like Pho, these soups it's all about the condiments !

I didn't quote any prices because the gal said some prices and items have changed. She gave me an old menu. The new one will be out when the printer puts it together.

I forgot deserts: Flan, Tres Leches, cheese cake, churros and banana split.

On the old menu, there isn't anything over ten bucks that I could find. I talked to a customer and he said they used to have a food truck and they are now making the jump to a Taqueria.

Auntentico Mexicano !

there is another place in the Greenwood District that I have to try. Don't know the name, but it looks like a combo market/restaurant. It's around 85th to 87th and Greenwood.

Wow. I stumbled across this thread looking for the Adopt o" List. Senior Octobre, you eat out way too much.

I guess I might as well list here, too.

If anyone is looking for a chiropractor in West Seattle or Tukwila...

Dr. Miles is the guy! I know him personally. Well, at least I know his wife.

I stumbled on this place, (Enat Ethiopian Restaurant, 11546 15th avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98125) last week. It's a couple of blocks south of the treehouse, in an earlier post. In the back of my mind, I knew it was there but the outside looked rough. Inside, it's warm, with wonderful smells, and dressed up in Ethiopian style. It's family run, it's tight, with about 10-12 tables max but man the food is good. I've had Ethiopian food before but mostly buffet style. Enat offers family style meals. We ordered the Vegiterian combination, the Enat combination, the yebeg tibs and some bread. It was too much for two. The combinations come on big platters set in the middle of the table and you take the bread and scoop or grab some up in it and chow down.

I loved the Yebeg Tibs ($13.00, tender marinated lamb, stirfired with onions, garlic and tomato).

The veggie combo ($11.00) had lentiles, cabages, collared greens seasoned with spices.

The Enat combo ($14.00) includes something from most of the menu. A good way to find out what they offer.

El Pollo Rico

Like many great spots, I've passed by this one often and what was I waiting for ?  I have to get over my fear of strip malls, for real.   I walked into El pollo Rico, which means dam good chicken, and the first thing I get, when I'm trying out a new joint from south of the border, is I get something with beans and rice.  If the beans and rice are good, generally this is a sign that the rest is good.

I ordered the three taco combo (pork), which includes beans and rice.   I was talking to the young woman at the counter and there behind her is  1/2 chickens on top snapin' and cracklin' above the fire.  I asked her what she sells the most of and she points to the chicken on the grill.   My tacos are ready and she grabs the big cleaver and chops off a couple of pieces and drops them on my plate.  The tacos were great but the flamed chicken was outstanding !

You can get whole chicken, 1/2, combo with rice and beans or salad.  They have Chicken Mole with rice and there everyday soup is chicken with a side of rice.  They have Torta's, Carne Asada, Steak Ranchero, Alambre, barbacoa (shredded beef), Green  and Red Enchiladas, Wet  and regular Burritos, Shrimp Cocktail, Garlic Shrimp, Canarones a la diabla, Gorditas, Sopas, tacos and Quesadillas.

The chicken soup is their everyday soup and they serve menudo on Saturday and Sunday.  No Posole.

The prices are very fair with the whole chicken with rice and beans for two runs  $14.75 and most everything else is in the 5-8 buck range.  The Asada, ranchero and alambre is a little more.

Although the name says chicken, I believe you can get most anything in beef, pork, or chicken.  I didn't see lengua (which I'm hooked on) on the menu but that could be available upon request.

I went back Sunday for menudo  at the above (Pollo Rico).  They brought out a nice big bowl of the stuff with chopped onions and lime wedges for garnish.  This isn't that cheap stuff.  They use the honeycomb tripe, the most tender part of the stomach with nice big pieces of it.  You can tell it's home made.  the server brought a red (hot) and a green (mild) sauce to the table.  I drank Horchata.  It's good !

The butcher from the mexican grocery next door came over on his break for some menudo.  The market next door appears from the outside as a little store but inside it's a full, complete market with an on site butcher, a bakery, with sweets and breads and stuff or anything else you might need.

I went in Saturday for the Menu do but the ranch style steak was calling my name. Very good. Marinated steak chopped up and slow cooked in a special sauce with rice and beans, horchata.

Ana's Casita

I've driven by the little red food truck at 42nd and Rucker many times since it's opening this Summer. It's nearby a busy corner (41st & Rucker) and when you zip by, you think, okay, where will I park ? Every time I go by at the lunch hour there is always a line of people in front. It must be good right ? People line up for it. Anyway, cut to the chase, I finally stop in at 11:30 today and I'm feeling good because i'm only 2nd in line. It might be slow today, because a Pacific storm is blowing in and anything that is not nailed down is swept away by the wind including Ana's a-frame sign. "Ana's Casita" is (her little house) the name.

Like I say, I stop in on this windy day and I order the pork burrito and it was big. Everything, from what I can tell, is under five bucks on the chalkboard menu. My burrito was $4.90 out the door. The tortas are $4.50. Some of the tacos are as low as .75 cents for the pork tacos up to a buck and a half for the bigger ones. She has a couple of items on the breakfast menu. What I like is everything is cooked to order as you like it and you get to watch her throw. Must food trucks they stand above you and you can't see the prep and they don't post prices. Some, down in Seattle, I've paid different prices for the same thing at the same stand. Not so at Ana's. She has sign with everything listed.

I parked in the gas station whom she rents a spot from.

It's everything you need in food truck grub: items that are prepared quick because people only have much time for lunch and it's just wrapped up in foil for a quick qet-a-way. If you want less sour cream, no problem. You want more guacamole, no problem. You like it hotter ? Just ask. The lady in front of me, asked for those really hot peppers and Ana had some for her. Nice place and a nice story. Please read Debra Smith's story in the herald listed below.

Debra Smith Story @ Everett Herald, August 24th, 2010

Ana's Casita
4216 Rucker Avenue
Everett, Wa, 98103

Ana's is gone. In her place Tacos Chiwas. Standard truck tacos. Carnitas, pollo, pastor, lingua, cachete.
Also tort as and burritos. Saturday soup tortilla.

I had the lingua tacos and tortilla soup. Torta and burritos five bucks. Tacos. A buck. Not bad. I miss Ana.
